The factory midpipe works, but it is built around production constraints. Replacing it improves exhaust gas flow and gives the car a more aggressive sound profile — the most audible change you can make to a G80 without going further down the exhaust.

Removing the factory piece and fitting the new one is a matter of alignment and sealing. We fit it for a leak-free seal, since a poor seal undoes both the flow benefit and the tone.

Why the oil cooler guard matters on a daily-driven G80

The engine oil cooler sits low on the car, right where road debris finds it. On track days and on rougher Valley roads, that exposure is real. The guard is a protective barrier that shields the cooler from rocks and debris.

Damage to an oil cooler is not a cosmetic problem. Left unaddressed it can escalate to engine failure, which makes the guard one of the cheapest pieces of insurance on the car. Both installs were checked for secure connections before the car went back out.
